Imphal, June 26 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) said that series of statements made by Union home minister Amit Shah ever since the violence erupted on May 3 always sidelined origin of the conflict and endorsed communal politics and divisive game that the Government of India has long been playing in Manipur.
Instead of finding a solution to the present crisis based on facts and reasoning, the Government of India has been continuing its divisive game and talks about it repeatedly.
By protecting Kuki militants, the Government of India has been expanding the issue of separate administration as demanded by the Kukis but never realised that such demand is detrimental to solving the present crisis.
Condemning series of statements made by Amit Shah regarding the ongoing violence and his thoughts on resolving the crisis, AMUCO said Government of India never want the present crisis to end in a meaningful way and called upon people to continue shouldering their responsibility to safeguard territorial and administrative integrity.
After maintaining silence in-spite of excessive violence perpetrated by SoO militants and Chin-Kuki mercenaries from Myanmar, the Government of India is now claiming the ongoing violence as a mere conflict between Kukis and Meetei and trying to resolve it accordingly.
However, AMUCO and the people of Manipur will never accept Government of India's attempt to resolve the present crisis based on conflict between Kuki and Meetei communities.
AMUCO further said that the present crisis could be resolved when Government of India takes action against SoO militants who violated agreed ground rules, responds to the questions as to why and how Kuki militants from Myanmar were allowed to enter Manipur freely and why Indian security forces allowed Kuki militants to attack and torch villages of Meetei and other communities in their very presence.
