Mass missed call awareness campaign held

Endorsing the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe list of the Indian Constitution, an awareness programme was held today at Wangoo Ima Tampha Lairembi Laibung.
The awareness programme was held in line with the mass missed call campaign launched by World Meitei Council (WMC); Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) and Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MTU) under the theme.
'Campaign for a better Manipur with Equal Status' .
Speaking at the occasion, a Meira Paibi leader said that the demand for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe list of the Indian Constitution is a legitimate demand so as to ensure constitutional security to the indigenous Meetei/Meitei community.

She went on to express discontentment that the illegal immigrants are wreaking havoc in the State and have been relentlessly attacking the indigenous communities after long-term and meticulous planning.
'It has been made possible owing to the various benefits provided to them under the ST status', she added.
Considering the atrocities of the illegal migrants towards the indigenes and the plights of the civilians due to the prevailing conflict situation, she urged the Central and State Government to take up immediate measures for restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.
