Ex-lady cop withdraws statement

Lady cop turned politician Thounaojam Brinda today said she has withdrawn the statement she made in a telephonic conversation with her uncle that has gone viral.
She made the statement today evening after displaced people of Torbung and Torbung Bangla stormed her residence at Yaiskul Janmasthan.
In the audio clip that had gone viral on the intervening night of December 13 and 14, Th Brinda was heard talking to a person who she refers to as uncle.
In the clip, she had accused Arambai Tengol, a Meitei organisation of burning Meitei houses in Torbung.
Angered by the allegation, people of Torbung and Torbung Bangla whose houses had been burnt stormed her residence today at around 4 pm demanding clarification and apology for her "false accusation" .
Even as the displaced people didn't find Th Brinda at her residence, they demanded her to issue a clarification by tomorrow noon.
Angered, some mob amid the displaced people damaged some properties at her residence.
Police arrived shortly and controlled the crowd.
Hours later, Th Brinda held a press meet at her residence.
Th Brinda said the one she was talking to over the phone in the viral clip is her uncle.
The telephonic conversation took place on October 3 .
"If it has hurt people, I am withdrawing my statement," Th Brinda said.
In connection with an audio recording that went viral earlier, Th Brinda said she had given a clarification to the Arambai Tengol and Meitei Leepun.
"It is very unfortunate that the properties that have been damaged today include a piece of history, a chair that was sat by Idhou Purel Bir Tikendrajit," Th Brinda said.
Apunba Meira Paibi Lup convenor Leimapokpam Santibala, who was present in the press meet, said the vandalising of properties at Th Brinda's residence was unfortunate.
