Imphal, December 28 2023: RIMS Hospital Imphal has vehemently condemned the brutal physical assault on one of its doctors.

The assault happened three days ago.

The doctor was brutally assaulted by unknown miscreants when returning home from work, said RIMS Medicine Professor Dr Naorem Dhiren at a sit-in protest organised at the hospital campus today.

Teachers and Medical Officers Association of RIMS organised the protest demonstration.

Before and amid the current tension between communities, doctors have been performing their duties with sacrifice and dedication.

The brutal assault on the doctor is condemned in the strongest term, Dr N Dhiren said.

If there was any issue with the doctor, it could have been resolved peacefully.

The brutal assault has caused fear among the medical practitioners.

It will be very hard and tough for the doctors to perform duties amid such an environment, he said.

The doctors held placards that read "Doctors are for patients and society", "Save the doctors", "Stop violence against doctors", "Stop harassing doctors", "Allow us to work in peaceful environment" etc.
