With the idea of keeping lasting memory of students Linthoingambi and Hemanjit, who were killed by Kuki militants in captivity, Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) planted saplings at different places of Thangmeiband AC on Sunday.
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan, Linthoingambi's father Kulajit, Hemanjit's father Ibungobi, film maker Padmashree Aribam Syam Sharma and him actors took part in the tree plantation drive.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Joykisan noted that as CBI is the largest investigating agency of India it has managed to nab some people involved in the killing of two students.
However, it is not satisfactory as the bodies of the two students have not been recovered till date, he said and assured that he will mount pressure on the CBI, state government and Central government to retrieve the bodies.
Hemanjit's father Ibungobi said that he could live in peace once bodies of the two students are recovered while Linthoin-gambi's father Kulajit said that the two students including his daughter have become people's property and will have no hesitation in whatever people take up for good.
Kulajit also offered to present saplings free of cost from his side if people want to plant tree in memory of the two students.
