Free health camp conducted, relief materials distributed

Taragi Cheishu, a conglomeration of Meetei intellectuals and organisations, on Sunday organised a Specialized Free Health Camp at the Relief Camp opened in Ideal Girls' College, Akampat, Imphal West.
In a release, Taragi Cheisu informed that the Free Health Camp was conducted as part of its weekly outreach programme taken up every Sunday to cover relief camps in far-flung villages of Manipur.
A team of specialized medical experts examined and treated 64 women, 34 men and 9 children for various ailments during the free health camp.

The team comprised of Prof Irom Anil Singh, Dr Ramesh and Dr Uthan from the Department of Medicine, JNIMS; Prof Ksh Achouba Singh, Endocrinologist, JNIMS; Prof RK Lenin Singh, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS and Prof Th Suraj Singh, Department of Neurology, RIMS.
The office bearers of Taragi Cheishu led by chairman Khaidem Mani, vice chairman RK Nimai, convenor Prof Dhakeswar, co-convener Prof Ch Ibohal Meetei, co-convener Dr Rajesh Yumkhaibam, Prof Mohilal of MU, Dr Jinus and members of Taragi Cheishu Legal Wing led by A Goutam and Th Simon also took part in the free health camp.
Later, relief materials such as rice, sanitary napkins, lactogen, cerelac, etc were distributed to the inmates.
Moreover, in continuation of the humanitarian aid extended to the people affected by the present unrest, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch, provided relief materials to 234 displaced families taking shelter at Ideal Girls' College Relief Camp, Akampat on Sunday.
In a release, IRCS Manipur State Branch informed that the relief materials included hygiene kit, kitchen set, woolen blanket, mosquito net, etc.
IRCS Manipur State Branch also provided relief materials to 71 displaced families at the relief camp opened in Wangjing Lamding and 67 displaced families at Wangbal Rice Research Centre Relief Camp.
The distribution programmes were attended by IRCS Manipur State Branch chairman Narendra Ningomba, IRCS Manipur secretary A Nabachandra, National Management Committee member Dr Senjam Sunil Singh, Laishram Kuber, patron member Jadumani and volunteers.
As part of the programme, the participants also observed one minute of silence to pay respect to those who had lost their lives during the ongoing conflict.
