Imphal, October 08 2023:
Thangmei-band Constituency MLA Kh Joykisan has said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not able to trace the mortal remains of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi till today other than arresting some accused in the murder case is very unfortunate.
The Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) organised a tree plantation programme at different places of Thangmeiband under the banner "Let us save tree, let us save our children; Justice for Hemanjit and Linthoingambi" in honour of the two students murdered by Kuki militants today.

Noted film maker Aribam Syam Sharma, parents and family members of the two students (Hemanjit and Linthoingambi ), president of Thangmeiband United Club Ranapratap, film artistes, women activists and inmates of the relief camp set up by TAKDO at Khuyathong also took part in the tree plantation programme among others.
Speaking to the media, Joykisan said that CBI is the biggest crime investigating agency of India and what people want from them (the CBI) is to retrieve the mortal remains of the two students and hand them over to the families.
It however is unfortunate that the CBI is unable to trace the bodies till today, he said and appealed to all concerned to put maximum effort in tracing the bodies so that the students can be laid to rest.
Father of Linthoingambi, Hijam Kulajit said that he planted June plum (Heining) so that people could remember his daughter and Hemanjit for a very long time and sapling of amla (Heikru) tree so that people could forgive them (the students) if they had done any wrong.
Kulajit said that he also planted tairen (scientific name Cedrela Toona) to ward off evil and overcome all challenges.
The father of Linthoingambi brought all the saplings by himself to plant them in memory of his daughter who has been killed by Kuki militants mercilessly.
Saying that people who want to plant tree saplings can take them for free from his house at Tera Tongbram Leikai, Kulajit appealed to one and all to help in preserving the environment.
Father of Hemanjit, Phijam Ibungobi, on the other hand, thanked the Thangmeiband AC MLA and TAKDO for organising the tree plantation programme in memory of his son and Linthoingambi.
"Let the trees planted in memory of my son and Linthoingambi be of help in preserving the environment and be the embodiment of peace and development when they grow fully," he said emotionally.
