Imphal, October 08 2023:
Peace derived after parting with the territory of Manipur has no value.
The government does not want to bring some smile today only to make the future generations cry.
Even if it takes one or two years of unrest, the ultimate goal is to leave behind a better future for the future, said Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwor.
He made the remark during a public meeting organised by BJP Patsoi Mandal at his residence on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that the priority is to resolve the crisis and restore peace and it will need a coordinated effort from all sections by setting aside their political differences.
Now, Kukis have curbed their aggression and the Meeteis are turning against one another, which is very unfortunate, he said, while urging the public to understand the situation.
The government can do its duties as long as it has the support from the public.
It is unfortunate to learn about expression of BJP Mandal leaders to resign from their posts.
They should understand that the government has not done anything that could harm the public.
The crisis in the state is a complex one and giving undue pressure on the public leaders will not bring anything good, the MLA said.
As the present crisis has not been initiated or devised by the government but testament of a four decade old plot, it would be wrong to blame the government for it.
Nevertheless, the government has also its own limitations, he said while urging the public to acknowledge good deeds of the government too.
It is the BJP government that brought ILP System and initiated process for NRC, he pointed out.
The Biren government is taking up stringent measures to protect forest areas, stop illegal poppy cultivation under its War on Drugs campaign.
It is the Biren government that woke up the society and it would be wrong to demand his resignation simply for saving the state from its impending doom, he said.
Sharing the pain of the bereaved families of the two students, whose bodies are yet to be recovered, Kunjakeshwor said that present crisis in the state is a complex one and it will take time to resolve it.
Meeteis are on the verge of facing the same fate as the Tripuris in Tripura.
The government knows that cedig to separate administration demand will stop the Kukis from their aggressive postures.
However, peace derivedfrom parting away the state s territory has no value, he reiterated, and appealed to the public to control their emotion while raising demands and organising public movement.
This is the time for unity and not for division, the MLA stressed and asserted that he will only resign when the people are truly against him but not otherwise.
BJP Patsoi mandal president Y Kunjo presided over the public meeting, which was also attended by local elders, Mandal leaders and representatives of local bodies as presidium members.
