Uniform land law required: MLA Noorul

A public meeting for the people of Kshetrigao assembly constituency on the theme 'Steps to be taken for the ongoing crisis' was held on Sunday at local MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan's residence and adopted a seven-point resolution.
Key points of the resolution adopted at the meeting held under the initiative of MLA Noorul include no distortion of territorial integrity of Manipur, no separate administration in Manipur, collective fight against narco-terrorists, implementation of NRC in Manipur, return of the looted arms, unwavering support to those injured in the current conflict, uniform law in both the hills and valley by rectifying MLR-LR Act and inclusion of Meetei/Meitei and Meitei Pangal in the ST list of Indian Constitution.
The meeting also resolved to mount pressure on the local MLA for converting all the points in the resolution into action.
Addressing the public meeting which commenced after paying two minutes silence in memory of those killed in the ongoing conflict, MLA Noorul Hassan said that Manipur cannot be broken and all the indigenous communities of Manipur should unitedly fight against any divisive agenda.
According to Noorul Hassan, it is not for job quota that valley dwellers are demanding the ST status but to have uniform land law in both hills and valley of Manipur.
MLR-LR Act of 1960 is the most unreasonable Act and this law must be rectified in tune with the changing time, he said and assured people that he will raise the matter in the state assembly.
While asserting that territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be distorted under any circumstance and people should fight those trying to break apart Manipur, MLA Noorul Hassan stressed the need for fighting unitedly against Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists from Myanmar who are trying to destroy the present generation and divide indige nous people of Manipur.
According to Noorul Hassan, all the MLAs of the valley have been working collectively to contain the violence though they could not immediately fulfill people's aspiration.
He said that MLAs are never silent and have been working tirelessly despite having limitations.
He also said that people of the state need to understand difference of having or not having an elected government at this crucial juncture and it is not the time to fight amongst ourselves Large number of Meira Paibis, students and youth of Kshetrigao AC took part in the public meeting.
