Imphal, October 08 2023:
Claiming that the controversial Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (MLR & LR) Act has become obsolete, Kshetrigao Constituency MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has vowed to raise a motion to amend the law pertaining to land revenue in the State Assembly.
The MLA made the remark during a one day public convention held under the topic "Steps to be taken for the ongoing crisis'' at Top Khongnangkhong Kshetri Awang Leikai, today.
At the convention, Noorul Hassan continued that the demand being raised to include Meeteis and Meetei Pangals in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list is not to get job reservations but to make sure there is uniform land law in both the hill and valley districts of Manipur.
Saying that the people of Manipur have been fighting those who want to disturb the unity of the people and the integrity of the State since very long time back, the MLA said that unity of the people is indispensable to defeat the Kuki narco-terrorists from Myanmar who want to disintegrate the State.
