Imphal, October 08 2023:
It is time for the indigenes to unite and fight against the enemy to save and protect the territorial integrity of Manipur, stated Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) director Prof L Deben.
Prof L Deben was speaking as chief guest during unveiling a statue of Ibudhou Pakhangba and the tnap of Manipur in 1709 at the No.1 UFO office campus in Langthabal Phura Makhong, on Saturday.
He acknowledged that Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) has been contributing their mite towards prompting religion practised by Manipuri forefathers and the culture and tradition which are on the verge of extinction.
Prof L Deben also stated that the present crisis is a fallout of the attempt to destroy the rich cultural heritage of Manipur and to disintegrate Manipur.
Therefore, all the indigenous people living in the state should unite and fight against the common enemy and save Manipur.
According to general secretary Meiraba Angomcha, UFO has been functioning under the motto of universal peace, love and to make a world without war.
Several wars have been fought in the world and all ended after negotiations.
Therefore, the present crisis in Manipur also needs to be settled through negotiations.
The party, which is on the wrong side should have the courage to say that they have committed a mistake and that they were wrong, he added.
He also said that some leaders of Kuki militant outfits are misleading the entire Kuki community for their personnel gains and are waging the war against the Meitei community.
These leaders need to be brought to their senses through talks.
All the communities in the state need to come out and help in bringing the crisis to an end, he maintained.
The function was attended by leaders of UFO and members of No 1 UFO.
On May 3, the wall of UFO office in Langthabal Phur-amakhong collapsed.
After reconstruction, pictures of Ibudhou Pakhangba and other ancient depictions are being put on display.
