Cultural Forum Manipur holds 56th annual conference

Along with organising a symposium on "Life and Works of Prof Ningthoukhongjam Tombi Singh, Ex MP", Cultural Forum Manipur conducted the 56th Annual Conference cum felicitation function at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, here, on Sunday.
The event was attended by Manipur University former VC Prof C Amuba Singh, Cultural Forum Manipur president Prof Huirem Behari and Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy director Pukhrambam Bilash Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof C Amuba highlighted lack of harmony between science and literature where it is said that one increases wisdom while the other increases knowledge.
Pukhrambam Bilash also stated that Ningthoujam Tombi played a major role in ensuring recognition of Manipuri Nat Sankirtana as the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
He had also pressed for singing Nat Sankirtana in Manipuri language.
He is a pioneer in politics, culture and among writers.
He also said that a society cannot be developed without the writers and reminded all concerned that society's development is measured by taking into consideration its literature.
A journal "RITU" of Cultural Forum Maniur was also released during the function in addition to releasing two books namely "Taibang Punshi" of Lairenlakpam Iboton Singh and "Hourakpham" of Sonia Khundrakpam.
National award winners in different fields of literature and new patron members of Cultural Forum Manipur were also felicitated at the event.
