Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Lnk/GD Iman Singh Gurung, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting insurgents at Peshami post, Tuensang district in Nagaland on January 6, 1964 .
According to PRO IGAR (S), the ceremony began with unit adjutant laying the wreath, followed by a solemn speech addressing all ranks and narrating the inspiring story of the brave-heart.
There officers, 18 junior commissioned officers and ISO other ranks from the Battalion paid their deep homage by laying wreaths and presenting a guard of honour, the PRO added.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles troopers orchestrated a series of impactful events on Saturday including extending humanitarian aid to nine persons who suffered injuries in an accident at Molcham village in Chandel district, recovering a toppled vehicle in Tengnoupal, fostering interactions with ex-servicemen in Bishnupur, and conducting a medical camp in Langza village in Churachandpur district.
Further, the troopers also distributed vegetable seeds to farmers of Serou village in Kakching district to support farmers of the village fulfil the domestic needs and achieve financial benefits.
Prophylactic security was also provided in organising a solo marathon by Ahanlon Anganglon United (AAU), Lilong to spread awareness on peace, integrity and unity in the violence-hit state.
MM Habibulla, who had been conferred with national award for his service during COVID -19 pandemic, participated in this event, the PRO informed.
