Imphal, November 09 2023:
The Thawai Mirel has call upon all the women and the general public to denounce the inaction of both the Central Government and the State Government on the six months old violent crisis by staging hunger strike on Ningol Chakkouba day.
Speaking to media persons at their Singjamei-Kongba road office today, Thawai Mirel co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi decried that both the Central Government and the State Government have been silently watching the acts of terror unleashed by Kuki terrorists in Manipur for the last six months as an entertaining drama.
Thawai Mirel condemns such irresponsible attitude of the State Government and the Centre in the strongest terms, she said.
Apart from inflicting large scale casualties to innocent Meitei civilians, Kuki terrorists have burnt down thousands of Meitei houses while many people have disappeared involuntarily.
What the Governor, the Chief Minister, the Speaker, Ministers and MLAs have been doing in the face of the relentless Kuki aggression is announcement of ex-gratia in the event of loss of lives, Sanahanbi said.
She then called upon one and all to stage a hunger strike on Ningol Chakkouba day, considering the hardships being faced by Meira Paibis, other womenfolk and all sections of people as a result of the protracted violence.
After stripping off all its powers, the Governor, the Chief Minister, the Speaker, all Ministers and MLAs have been reduced to 'bluetooth legislators/administrators' with the remote control operated by the Central Government, she said.
It's time all the indigenous people of Manipur say no to this remote-controlled 'administration', she asserted.
