Imphal, November 09 2023:
Sahu Nav Yuvak Sangh (SNYS), Mantripukhri and Vaishya Youth Club (VYC), Telipati have extended support to the solidarity call given by All Manipur Teli Association (AMTA) for suspending the celebration of Chatt Puja (Ganga Puja) and Diwali festivals for this year.
In a joint release, SNYS general secretary Ashok Prasad Sahu and VYC general secretary Sitaram Sahu conveyed that they collectively present their due respect to the people of the state and since all have been suffering in these past few months due to the prevailing situation, they too have decided to suspend all celebrations this year.
"As for the religious processions which cannot be cancelled, we urge members of our community to perform the necessary activities inside residential premises, avoiding any show of celebratory activities".
"We understand that the absence of traditional festivities may cause disappointment, but we encourage our members and the community at large to embrace the spirit of compassion, love, and selflessness that these festivals represent.
We will find alternative ways to express our devotion and commitment to the well-being of our fellow citizens," it said.
The release also said that they firmly believe that the decision to suspend Chatt Puja (Ganga Puja) and Diwali celebrations serves as a testament of their unwavering commitment to the welfare and unity of the society.
"Together, we can overcome these challenging times and together we shall emerge stronger and more resilient," it added.
