Clarion call given to achieve self-sustainable goal

Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), Farmers' Wing convenor K Thoiba has called for producing own products to become self-sustainable, even amidst the conflict perpetrated by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
COCOMI Farmers' Wing in association with Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, and Young Sporting Club, Leitanpokpi organised an awareness cum seed distribution programme at Leitanpokpi on Thursday.
The programme was attended by COCOMI Farmers' wing co-convenors L Shyam Khuman, AB Elangbam, Nongthombam Erabot, Laishram Kiran; Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department's agriculture officer Laishram Santosh; and Makhel Dolaithabi ZP Ningthoukhongjam Sanatomba as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Thoiba lamented that the on going conflict has affected the people, particularly those in the rural areas.
While prices of daily essential items are on the rise, the economy of the state has also been impacted.
Despite these difficulties, we need to work on producing our own indigenous products so as to become self-sustainable and independent of others.
Appealing to all to wake up and recognise the urgent need for self-sustenance especially amid the conflict, he urged farmers to contact COCOMI Farmers' Wing in case of any difficulty, and assured that all possible assistance will be provided.
He also urged for availing the benefits of schemes introduced by the government for the welfare of farmers.
In his speech, Agriculture officer Laishram Santosh suggested farmers to pay attention on producing seasonal products, and said that farmers can procure the required seeds from the Horticulture office.
