Club appeals to stop cutting trees, wild life poaching

Nongren Naharol Chaokhat Khongthang Club has appealed to stop felling trees and killing wild animals in Napet Palli Forest.
In a release, the Club pointed out that people residing near Tera Lok hill under Napet Pali Forest are cutting trees without any restriction by forest officials.
If such acts continue then nearby people might also indulge in felling of trees thereby leaving the hills barren, it expressed and urged the government authorities to look into the matter and take appropriate actions.
Citing instances of poachers using firearms to hunt wild birds and animals in the said hill range, the Club stated that sounds of gunshots make the nearby residents uneasy especially in the backdrop of the present unrest situation.
It then declared that poaching of wild animals and birds as well as use of firearms would be strictly prohibited in areas near Nongren, Nongpok Kakching, Nongdam, Oksu, Ningthemchakhul, Heirok, Nongada, Telou, Chana and Chingnungkok.
