Imphal, November 09 2023:
The public curfew/bandh called by the JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony has been rescheduled.
As per the revised schedule, the public curfew/bandh would come into force from 4 am of November 10 and it will continue till 1 pm of November 11 .
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Committee, Awang Sekmai-Kanglatongbi Kanba Lup, Awang Sekmai Scheduled Caste Development Committee, Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup and the Awang Sekmai Volunteer Force informed the press that they would extend full support to the public curfew/bandh called by the JAC.
Speaking to media persons at Akham Awang Leikai today, JAC member Moirangthem Sunilkumar said that neither the victim families nor the JAC has so far received any positive response from the Government regarding the disappearance of the two students.
During this period of public curfew, the Government must find out the whereabouts of the two missing students.
If the State Government fails to find out the whereabouts of the two students within the stipulated period, the JAC would hand over the issue to the CSOs, student organisations and the people of Manipur, Sunilkumar said.
Even though the Government has been claiming that some individuals suspected to be involved in the kidnapping of the two students have been arrested, it has not yet divulged the fate of the two students who went missing since November 5, he said.
He went on to ask if the claim of arresting suspects is just a ploy to quell public uproar.
