Imphal, November 09 2023:
Accusing both the Central Government and the State Government of watching the Manipur crisis silently as if the crisis is an entertaining drama, 10 Opposition parties have warned that they would launch strong agitation together with the people if anything untoward happens to Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony who have been missing since November 5 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today on behalf of AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI(M), INC, JD(U), NCP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and RSP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) Manipur State unit president Toijam Devananda said that the Government has failed the citizens repeatedly as two more students have been kidnapped by Kuki militants while the bodies of Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit who were murdered in cold blood by Kuki militants could not be traced till date.
It is a matter of grave concern that neither the State Government nor the Central Government has succeeded in finding the whereabouts of Ningthoujam Anthony and Maibam Avinash till date after they were kidnapped on November 5 .
He said that the 10 Opposition parties would support all democratic forms of agitation launched by the JAC formed against the kidnapping of Avinash and Anthony.
Close on the heels of the public announcement that attacks on Meitei people would be renewed from November, Kuki militants have already resumed their aggression but the BJP Government has been saying nothing as if they have an intention to keep the fire of violence burning, Devananda said.
A number of innocent Meiteis have been slaughtered, thousands of houses burnt down while many people have been maimed for life.
Kuki militants even gunned the Moreh SDPO who was in police uniform, he pointed out.
Now Kuki militants have been preventing farmers from harvesting paddy in different fringe areas, he said.
He then asked why the Chief Minister, Ministers and the ruling MLAs could not apprise the Union Home Minister of the relentless aggression by Kuki militants.
It is rather unfortunate that the three MPs elected from Manipur are unable to say anything to Central leaders on the Manipur crisis.
Devananda went on to ask, "Do they have throat problems?" .
BJP Manipur Pradesh too is acting as if it is totally helpless in the face of the open demand for separate administration raised by seven Kuki MLAs/Ministers belonging to the same party, he said.
AIFB Manipur State secretary Khomdram Gyaneshwar urged the Government not to abandon Ningthoujam Anthony and Maibam Avinash to their fates.
The Government must take a firm decision and act with conviction to save the two boys, he said.
If the Government fails to discharge its duties and responsibilities to save the two missing boys, the 10 Opposition parties would launch intense modes of agitation, he added.
