Entry of 'armed' persons prohibited; Chakkouoa cancelled

With the stated objective to prevent occurrence of unwanted incidents and apprehension among the people, Joint Meira Paibis & Clubs of Imphal Municipal Ward no.23 restricted entry of unauthorised armed persons in uniform in the area.
A release issued by the local bodies stated that no one should take undue advantage of the present unrest situation to make irrational monetary demand to residents of Khurai Ahongei, Thangjam and Thoudam Leikai.
If any person in possession of firearms threaten or intimidate the locals over certain issues, then he/she will be punished under due process of the law and banished from the locality, it cautioned.
If further urged the people of ward no.23 not to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba this year in solidarity to those affected by the conflict.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCQ) informed that the annual Ningol Chakkouba celebration will be cancelled owing to the present situation in the state.
While extending wishes to women of the state and diaspora, it urged both state and central governments to stop sinister political games so that peace and normalcy could be restored.
The indigenes should stay away from political games and instead join hands for restoration of normalcy, it stressed.
