CM launches Permanent Housing Scheme for displaced

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has launched the Permanent Housing Scheme for the displaced people who lost their houses in the course of the ongoing violence.
The scheme was launched during a solemn programme held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, today.
At the function, N Biren also handed over financial assistance to construct permanent houses for select beneficiaries from Imphal East, Kakching and Bishnupur District under the scheme.
Amount ranging from Rs 5 lakh to 10 lakh will be provided to 4800 beneficiaries whose houses have either been burnt or destroyed across the State as a part of rehabilitation programme.
The financial assistance will be given in two instalments.

Beneficiaries can apply for the 2nd instalment through the Deputy Commissioners concerned by submitting the photographs of the utilisation of the 1st instalment amount in constructing their houses.
On the occasion, N Biren Singh stated that the Government under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spent Rs 399.82 crore in extending relief assistance to the victims of the ongoing conflict.
He informed that Rs 11 crore has been spent on setting up Manipur IT Centre for Exam, Rs 4.5 crore in providing TV sets to various relief camps, Rs 150 crore in constructing pre-fabricated houses, Rs 101 crore in relief camp management for six months and Rs 89.22 crore in providing nutrition including breakfast for displaced children and in winter preparedness at relief camps.
He continued that the State Government has also provided the second round of financial assistance (Rs 1000 each) to people staying at relief camps.
Labour card holders staying at relief camps have also been given Rs 5000 each for their children's education, N Biren said and added that the Government will provide beds for the displaced people at relief camps too.
The Chief Minister further informed that they had sought Rs 476 crore from the Centre to take up various other relief measures such as Rs 6 crore for disbursement of Rs 1000 cash assistance to people staying at relief camps, Rs 360 crore for implementation of Permanent Housing Scheme, Rs 108 crore to release second instalment for relief camps management and another Rs 2.5 crore for buying cycles for girls staying at relief camps.
He then appreciated the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister for providing timely assistance.
Mentioning that the Government is monitoring all activities taking place in the State, the Chief Minister urged the people to refrain from indulging in any form of violence.
He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the Government to restore peace in the State.
Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, senior Government officials and beneficiaries also attended the launch programme among others.
