Work sheds gutted

Thoubal, November 09 2023:
Two work sheds and two pavilion structures (shanggoi) were gutted at Thoubal Kshetrileikai Thangjam Leirak around 12.30 am today causing damage to property worth roughly Rs 25 lakh.
Suspected to be caused by an electric short-circuit, the blaze devastated the families of two brothers Sanasam Mejen and Sanasam Yaiskul, s/o Sanasam Chandra from Thoubal Kshetrileikai Thangjam Leirak.
Locals quickly informed Thoubal Fire Service when they first learnt about the fire but by the time fire service personnel arrived, the blaze had already gutted a majority of the two brothers' properties.
In the fire, Sanasam Mejen lost a workshop and a pavilion which cost Rs 4 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively to construct as well as paddy worth Rs 40,000 and a TVS Jupiter kept for repairing.
Altogether, he lost about Rs 7.4 lakh worth of goods in the blaze.
Sanasam Yaiskul also lost a workshop and a pavilion which cost around Rs 4 lakh and Rs 3 lakh to construct respectively, paddy worth Rs 30,000, 7 grabber machines, 1 driller, 1 shielding machine, 3 fans, 1 blower, 2 gas cylinders and some vehicles kept aside for repairs including one Swift car, one Alto car, one Honda Activa and 1 Yamaha.
He suffered a total of Rs 18.1 lakh in damages in the blaze.
