Imphal, November 05 2023:
Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association president Y Mangi has stated that the government will provide endless support to the home guards, provided the latter fulfil their responsibility sincerely and selflessly.
He made the statement on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Association cum calendar release for the upcoming year, organised at its Luwangsangbam campus on Saturday.
Mangi said that home guards play an important role in maintaining internal security by assisting the police, in addition to taking over other roles as mandated in the guidelines under Manipur Home Guard Act and Rules.
He then mentioned the Supreme Court's directive for parity in the benefits provided to police and home guards.
However, the state government has not even disbursed the ration money, let alone the 7th pay.
Nonetheless, he expressed belief that the government and relevant authorities will uphold the seniority promotion guidelines and also address other demands, considering the growing importance of home guards in maintaining law and order situation.
