Protest meet on Manipur integrity held

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur state committee general secretaiy L Sotinkumar has said that the fire-engulfing Manipur since May 3 could have been easily doused had both the state and Central governments worked with sincerity.
Addressing the gathering at a protest meet for protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur held at Irawat Bhavan, here, on Monday, Sotinkumar said the Centre is yet to bring out a solution to douse the fire in Manipur even as the state is in flame for nearly five months now.
This compelled the people to openly express their discontentment to both the state and Central governments and even formed many youth organisations.
Apart from this, women of the state irrespective of their professions have suspended their daily activities and come out to the streets while many are in the frontline to save Manipur, he said.
According to L Sotinkumar, a delegation of opposition political parties camped in the national capital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi but was denied the opportunity to meet the PM even after waiting for one month.
When the Manipur issue missed the agenda of Parliament session, Oppositon parties moved 'No Confidence Motion' against the government but Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about Manipur for only four minutes, he added.
The protest meet organised by AITUC, Imphal East district was also attended by AITUC Manipur working president S Yaima, All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi Devi, AITUC, Imphal East district president I Tomba, Manipur Shilang Loumee Lup vice president W Radha and AITUC Manipur secretary W Samungou.
