Imphal, September 25 2023:
Although the central BJP leaders have assured repeatedly that there will be no separate administration (SA), there is still confusion on whether there is a separate administration in the state or not, considering no curfew is imposed in the hill areas.
There is free rein of Kuki militants in the hill areas and crimes rampant, with no action taken against the culprit(s), observed Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) general secretary Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh.
Addressing a press meet at his Heingang residence on Monday, Saratchandra said that the people have been protesting against any attempt to disintegrate the state.
To this, both the central and state governments have assured that no separate administration will be allowed in Manipur.
However, the present situation in Manipur has raised questions whether a separate administration had been set up in the state, considering the absence of movement between the hills and the valley, the differences in the manner of maintenance of law and order.
If truth is to be told, both the central and state governments could have curbed the violence within a matter of few days.
However, their indifference to solving the conflict for over four months has raised suspicions on their assurances to uphold the integrity of Manipur.
As such, it would be best for the government to remember that the people of Manipur are ready to defend the state till their last breathe, he said, while urging everyone to work together for restoring normalcy and peace in the state.
