District level convention, protest meeting held

Raising the call for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Imphal East District, today organised a protest meeting at Irawat Bhawan, Imphal.
A release issued by AITUC Manipur State Committee informed that the protest meeting was participated by AITUC Manipur working president S Yaima, general secretary L Sotinkumar, All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi Devi, AITUC Imphal East District president I Tomba, Manipur Shilang Loumi Lup (BKMU) vice president W Radha and AITUC Manipur secretary Kh Samungou as presidium members.
I Tomba delivered the welcome address while S Yaima, L Sotinkumar, M Sakhi Devi, W Radha, Kh Samungou and AITUC Imphal East District secretary K Sanahanbi raised the call for protection of the State' integrity.
The dignitaries appealed to all the members of the Union to provide their support in safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, and pressuring the Government to fulfil the demands of the working class.
Representatives of Anganwadi workers, ASHA, Mid Day Meal workers, Shilang Loumi Lup, street vendors and construction workers also took part in the meeting protest.
Besides, as part of the month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat, AITUC Bishnupur District on September 23, 2023, conducted a District Level Convention at Karang Island, Thanga under the theme, "Territorial Integrity of Manipur" .
It was attended by AITUC Bishnupur District president S Nilkamal, L Sotinkumar, Kh Samungou and I Tomba as presidium members.
The convention attended by fish farmers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and labourers staying in relief camps began with a welcome address delivered by M Mangi Singh, convenor AITUC Bishnupur District.
At the convention, L Sotinkumar expressed his anguish over the failure of the State and Central Government to bring an end to the conflict even after 4 months and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
He also elaborated on the role of the public to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and reaffirmed the Union's stand to pressure the Government to safeguard the rights of fish farmers and labourers.
