Imphal, September 25 2023:
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has once again said that the State Government can end the months-long violence in Manipur in a couple of days if they are committed to protect lives and properties.
Speaking to the media at his residence at Heingang Mayai Leikai today, MPCC general secretary Pangeijam Saratchandra said that people of Manipur have been protesting against the separate administration demand being raised by Kuki MLAs and organisations since the past over four months.
The Government at the Centre and the State, on the other hand, had repeatedly stated that Manipur won't be disintegrated, he added.
But looking at how things have been unfolding it seems like there already is separate administration for hill and valley districts as the State is unable to maintain law and order in Kuki dominated hill districts, the Congress leader charged.
He also said that the Government is unable to take any action against the Kuki MLAs who openly demanded disintegration of Manipur despite taking a pledge to protect the State.
Reiterating that the Centre and the Manipur Government can end the violence in a couple of days if they want to, P Saratchandra claimed that there, however, is no serious intervention from the Government to restore normalcy in the State as of now.
He urged the Government to understand the plight of the people and do the needful at the earliest.
