Awareness programme, medical camp held

Thoubal, September 25 2023:
Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) organised an awareness programme on Social Welfare Schemes for sanitary workers and self-help groups under the theme "SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir" alongside a medical camp at the TMC town hall on Monday.
The programme was held in connection with Swachhata Hi Seva, a campaign for mass cleanliness drive initiated by the government of India from September 15 till October 2 across the country.
Monday's event was attended by Thoubal district deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash Singh as chief guest, TMC caretaker chairperson Th Shyamo Singh as functional president and CAF & PD district supply officer Shanta Sarungpham, CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul Singh, DSWO Thoubal Kangujam Nongpoknganba and TMC executive officer H Pradeep Kumar Singh as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Subhash highlighted the role of sanitary workers and self-help groups in keeping the district as well as the country neat and clean while also giving them the credit for Thoubal town winning the title of cleanliest town in state as well as the country.
Considering the roles and hardships faced by sanitary worker, the government of India has launched several welfare schemes, the DC stated, while also expressing concern over failure to implement programmes to uplift socio-economic condition of the workers.
Similarly, Lilong Municipal Council organised a free medical camp for sanitary workers and City Team members alongside "SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir" campaign at Lilong Ima market on Monday.
As part of the medical camp organised in collaboration with Sur hospital, Khangabok, medicines were distributed to those in need.
The camp was also attended by Council's executive officer Mainam Rajen.
