Longer curfew hours in Moreh, shorter in Imphal

Imphal, June 17 2023:
Curfew relaxation hours in Moreh town under Tengnoupal district has been shortened from 5am till 2pm to 5am to 12 noon on Saturday as security along the Indo-Myanmar border intensified and sealed.
Myanmarese vegetable vendors who used to sell their items in Moreh localities by entering secretly despite of sealing of border until few days back have stopped crossing into Manipur side now.
On the other hand, Hill Tribal Council Moreh issued notices to CSOs of Moreh like Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh, Gorkha Samaj Samiti Moreh and Tamil Sangam Moreh to advise members of the community concerned not to take any thing from houses abandoned by Meetei community in the town.
The Council also declared that no one shall enter or live in the abandoned houses or purchase land/houses of the Meetei community.
Sale/ purchase of Meetei land/ houses in Moreh could be done when the affected families return to the border town and reach an understanding, the notice said.
Meanwhile, curfew has been relaxed from 5 am to 5 pm for Imphal East and Imphal West districts as well as Kakching district on Sunday.
Curfew will continue in Meitei Langol area in Imphal West district, in New Checkon area of Imphal East and Wapokpi, Sugnu & Serou villages in Kakching district.
