Final hearing of petition against MLA Kebi on Dec 5

Imphal, November 28 2023: Final hearing of the election petition filed against incumbent Naoriya Pakhanglkpa AC MLA Sagolshem Kebi by former MLA Soibam Sub-ashchandra has been fixed on December by the High Court of Manipur.

Subashchandra filed the petition seeking disqualification of Kebi, who was elected in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, alleging that Kebi's nomination paper submitted to the Election Commission had numerous errors which could mislead people.

Apart from examining witnesses' records submitted by counsels of the respondents, the court brought the matter for discussion after completing cross examination.

Petitioner Subashchandra contended in the petition that S Kebi's educational qualification as mentioned in affidavit form No 26 of the nomination paper submitted for the election clearly indicated that she studied till class X at Little Master English school, Shamurou but there is no student named Sagolshem Kebi at the same school when RTI was filed at the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.

Accordingly, the court summoned relevant official of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and principal of Little Master English School, Shamurou, who verified the allegations agajnst S Kebi.

The court of justice A Bimol then fixed December 5, 2023 for conducting final hearing of the election petition.
