Workshop / production on tribal and Meitei folk dances hosted

The Apunba Cultural Training Association, Yaiskul, Janmasthan organised a workshop cum production on "An interactive performance between the tribal dances of Manipur & the folk dances of the Meitei" at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane today.
The workshop cum production was conducted under the sponsorship of Chief Minister gi Arstistessingi Tengbang (CMAT), Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur.
The event was graced by Pukhrambam Bilash Singh, Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy; Dr Yumnam Sadananda, Director, Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory and Chingtham Ranjeet Khuman, Director, Kanglei Shaktam Langba Kanglup as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking as the chief guest, Pukhrambam Bilash Singh commented on the loss of traditional etiquettes in society.
However, these are still preserved in the culture of the State, he added.
For this reason, people well-versed in art and culture will be endowed with more success even if they shift to another career field, said the JNMDA Director.
Promoting Manipuri culture cannot be accomplished by a handful of people.
Everyone should become an advocate for the indigenous culture and elders and parents should also encourage their wards when they express any interest in art and culture, he added.
As a part of the function, "Maibi Jagoi, Kabui Jagoi and Thougal Jagoi" were also presented to an audience of conflict survivors from Yaiskul Relief Camp.
In addition, P Dingbulung, Chingmei Kabui, Khoupum presented a Kabui folk song before the gathering.
