IGNOU launches tech-based learning in Manipuri

Union minister of state for external affairs and education Dr RK Ranjan inaugurated chan nel-based counselling in Manipuri Language under IGNOU during a ceremony held at IGNOU Regional Centre, Imphal on Monday in the presence of IGNOU vice-chancellor professor Nageshwar Rao.
Addressing the gathering, Dr RK Ranjan highlighted the significance of this technology-based learning system which will provide a conducive learning environment in Manipuri language.
He commended IGNOU for its initiative in developing language-based channels, aligning with the principles of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020,' which emphasises teaching in mother tongue.
The minister pointed out that NEP 2020 envisions a transformative shift in India's education system, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals through inclusive and equitable quality education.
He expressed satisfaction with IGNOU s introduction of programmes and courses grounded in Indian knowledge, heritage, and culture.
Acknowledging IGNOU's role in implementing NEP 2020, RK Ranjan praised the institution's efforts towards promoting regional languages through coun selling sessions.
He stated that IGNOU's approaches and initiatives in areas like quality education, skilling ecosystem, innovation, entrepreneurship, and internationalisation would serve as a compendium of best practices for other universities implementing NEP.
Vice-chancellor professor Uma Kanjilal, pro-vice-chancellor Dr Srikant Mohapatra, and regional director, IGNOU RC Imphal Dr Salam Dilan, were also present as dignitaries at the function.
