MMTU appeals for largescale participation in mass missed call campaign

The Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MMTU) has appealed for widespread participation in the mass missed call campaign titled "Campaign For A Better Manipur With Equal Status" for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in the Scheduled Tribes list under Article 342(1) of the Indian Constitution.
It may be noted that the campaign was launched on November 20 and will continue till December 20, 2023, according to a statement issued by Mutum Churamani, general secretary, MMTU.
In the press release, MMTU has urged peoples' representatives such as MPs, MLAs as well as VIPs, bureaucratic officers and members of political parties who have not yet given a missed call to assigned mobile number +918732042511 to do so without fail.
Further, MMTU has also appealed to local clubs, meira paibis and other organisations to provide awareness about the campaign to their local residents with the help of loudspeakers and help in ensuring that the campaign is a success.
MMTU has also extended this appeal to the Meitei public and diaspora scattered across the globe.
Addressing certain issues faced by callers in giving missed calls to the aforementioned mobile number +918732042511, MMTU has informed that the problem has been fixed and also offered their regrets for the inconvenience caused.
Lastly, the organizing bodies of the mass missed call campaign, namely, the Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union (MMTU), World Meetei Council (WMC), Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL), Salai Kanba Lup (SKL), Schedule Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) and Global Meeteis Diaspora have offered their gratitude to the public and called for collective effort to ensure the inclusion of Meeteis/Meiteis in the ST list.
