SWEEP programme held at JNV

District Election Department, Senapati organised a SVEEP programme at JNV, Mao on Tuesday with the active participation of students and teaching faculties of the school.
Speaking on the occasion, PP Ronald elaborated on the SVEEP programme and how the district election department personnel has been travelling around the corner spreading the message.
He stated that it is a flagship campaign launched by the Election Commission of India in order to educate citizens of the country, particularly those between the ages of 17 and 18, about voter literacy.
The programme's goal is to teach one how to enrol in the voter list at the age of 18 using form No.6 and become an eligible voter in the Indian election.
After receiving the EPIC card, a person can vote for a candidate of their choice, the ADC Senapati added.
A simple quiz session was organised in the later part of the programme, coupled with distribution of T-shirts and caps.
Prior to the formal programme at JNV Mao, T-shirts and caps imprinted with "Hello Democracy" together with form No 6, 7 and 8 were distributed to volunteers at Mao Gate bazaar.
'Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation' programme, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship programme of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.
Since 2009, election department has been working towards preparing India's electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.
