Venue permit for Nyay Yatra not yet given

Even as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to kick off Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Imphal's Hapta Kangjeibung on January 14, permission to use the ground has not been given yet, said Congress today.
Seeking permission to use Hapta Kangjeibung, a delegation of the Congress met with State Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi at around 1 pm today.
The Congress delegation included Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president K Meghachandra, AICC Working Committee member Gaikhangam, AICC Manipur in-charge Girish Choudankar, former Minister Kh Ratankumar and other senior members.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi informed the delegation that a decision on the request would be made after consulting Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
At a press meet held after the delegation met with the Chief Secretary, AICC's Manipur in-charge, Girish Choudankar said the BJP Government shouldn't politicise the matter regarding the starting point of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
"Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Imphal will show to the world that normalcy and peace has returned to Manipur.
This kind of historic yatra which will help Manipur Government shouldn't be politicised," Girish said.
He said the Nyay Yatra will be participated by many renowned personalities from India and abroad.
The Congress party has been seeking the Manipur State Government to give permission to use Hapta Kangjeibung to launch the yatra.
However, the Government has not given the permission yet, he said.
Meanwhile, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal inspected Hapta Kangjeibung.
He arrived at Imphal at around 3 pm.
He was received by CLP leader Okram Ibobi, former Deputy CM Gaikhangam, MPCC president K Meghachandra and other Congress leaders.
Speaking to the media, KC Venugopal said Rahul Gandhi's Nyay Yatra isn't political but a historic march that aims to bring peace between communities.
Rahul Gandhi's Nyay Yatra is scheduled to begin from Imphal on January 14 and conclude at Mumbai.
The journey from Imphal to Mumbai will pass through 14 States and 85 districts covering 6,200 kilometres.
Earlier, Congress leaders had said that the Bharat Nyay Yatra will seek economic, social and political justice for the people of the country.
