CPI/MSC launches hunger strike

Imphal, January 28 2024:
Demanding resolution of the current crisis by convening the state assembly, CPI Manipur State Council launched three days' hunger strike at Irabot Park, Lamlai on Sunday.
The first day of the three-day relay hunger strike was organised by CPI Imphal East to demand solution of the Manipur crisis before the Lok Sabha election and restore peace and normalcy in the state through political solution.
Apart from demanding that the state assembly discuss the crisis thoroughly and there should be no separate administration and distortion of state's integrity, the party also demanded return of the displaced people to their native homes, implementation of NRC, review of SoO agreement with Kuki militants and fencing of Manipur sector of the Indo-Myanmar international border.
CPI Manipur former secretary L Sotinkumar, assistant secretary M Joy and other leaders of the party took part in the protest on the first day and addressed the hunger strikers.
Party members from Khundrakpam, Lamlai, Khurai, Andro, Kshetrigao, Keirao, Heingang and Thongju assembly constituencies took part in the hunger strike and joined local people.
The strike continue at Irawat Bhavan on Jahuary 29 with the third day's strike scheduled at Kakching Lamkhai.
