AR junks KIM allegations against Col Oinam Akash

Assam Rifles has vehemently condemned and dismissed as baseless allegations levelled by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) against 18 AR commandant Colonel Oinam Akash.
While pointing out that Colonel Oinam Akash, a decorated soldier hailing from Manipur, has played a pivotal role in bringing stability in the sensitive Dolaithabi area, an Assam Rifles statement highlighted the commanding officer's contributions in maintaining peace and security in the area.
The local communities in Saikul, Dolaithabi and Sagolmang, spanning across various ethnic groups, are well aware of the substan-
tial efforts made by Colonel Oinam Akash and his soldiers.
The officer's dedication in ensuring safety of civilians, often at the expense of personal safety, has been recognised and commended by the locals, conveyed the statement.
Assam Rifles expressed disappointment that an organisation of Kuki In-pi's stature has resorted to malicious propaganda, resulting in the issuance of radical and communal allegations against the Colonel.
The Assam Rifles statement further emphasised that such false charge is not only aimed at malign ing image of the decorated officer but is far from the ground realities.
The statement underscored that it was the troops under Colonel Oinam Akash's command that took proactive measures to curb disturbances in Khamenlok area on Saturday and also reassured the public of its commitment to discharging duties impartially, fairly, and firmly, with a focus on establishing and maintaining peace in the state.
The Assam Rifles urged the population to refrain from falling prey to malicious and vitiated allegations while emphasising its dedication to upholding peace and security in the state.
