Speaking to media persons, CPI Manipur State Council Assistant Secretary M Joykumar said that an Assembly session should be convened in order to discuss the protracted violent crisis and explore a solution.
He said that the hunger strike launched today would continue at different places.
While thousands of people have been living in relief camps as their houses have been burnt down, all sections of the people have been suffering untold misery on account of the protracted violence, he said.
Joykumar said that CPI would be constrained to take recourse to more intense forms of agitation if the Government does not pay heed to its demands.
The second day of the hunger strike would be staged at Irabot Bhavan, Imphal tomorrow under the aegis of CPI Imphal City district, Imphal West district and Bishnupur district.
On Tuesday, the hunger strike would be staged at Kakching Lamkhai Keithel under the aegis of CPI Thoubal district and Kakching Local Council, he added.
