Kangpokpi, January 28 2024:
The Kuki National Front (Nehlun) group, non-SoO Kuki militant group, expressed grave concern over the ongoing work under Jal Jeevan Mission undertaken in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district and called upon the PHE department, minister, and MLAs to address the issues at hand and work towards successful completion of the project ensuring the welfare of all communities in the district.
Highlighting the issues surrounding the supplementary list and the handling of the project by certain individuals, the outfit claimed that the PHED is yet to complete the crucial work outlined under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with a supplementary list of vital projects in the areas of Sadar Hills.
"Such delay is unacceptable as it directly impacts the lives and well-being of the local communities," said Gou Kuki, the outfit's information & publicity secretary.
He alleged that the work orders, assigned to handle the supplementary scheme list, have been inadequately managed by a minister and some MLAs.
He also claimed that the previous work undertaken in the area remains incomplete and the seizure of the projects by a minister and some MLAs raised serious questions about their commitment to well-being of our people.
While conveying the outfit's deep concern about the lack of progress and delay in the completion of the previous work, Gou Kuki said that the delay in completion of the work and lack of progress will adversely affect the interest of the communities in the district, particularly the Kuki community in the present situation.
He also urged authorities concerned and all stakeholders to address the issues promptly and transparently while emphasising the importance of community collaboration and anticipated that the concerns raised by them would be considered and resolved.
"It is essential to ensure that the projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission are executed fairly and equitably meeting the needs of all communities involved," he added.
While calling upon the department, minister, and MLAs to be accountable for their actions and to provide a clear plan for the swift and efficient completion of the JJM projects, Gou Kuki said that the people have waited long enough, and their patience is running thin now.
He further said that the outfit is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of its people and they will continue to monitor the situation closely until it is satisfactorily resolved.
