Two killed, 4 injured in road accident

Kakching, January 28 2024:
At least two people were killed and four others left injured in a vehicle collision at Sora Bazar under Kakching Police Station along Imphal-Moreh road on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Thokchom Gopalmacha (80) of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai and Nongmaithem Surjamani (57) of Kakching Makha Leikai Mayanglambam Pareng.
The injured have been identified as Thangjam Ibotombi (78) of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Laishram Budhachandra (78) of Thangmeiband Meis-nam Leikai, Ngaseppam Mangi (80) of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai, and Surjamani's wife Nongmaithem ongbi Keinatombi (50).According to a report, the accident occurred around 1.50pm Sunday, when an S-Presso (MN01AG 5589) collided with a Yamaha Alpha (MN01AB1224) at Sora Bazar.
The S-Presso was driven by one Yumnam Manglem of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai with Gopahnacha, Ibotombi, Budhachandra and Mangi as occupants.
They had gone to attend a Shraddha ceremony in Kakching Khunou.
Surjamani and Keinatombi were on the Yamaha Alpha heading from Kakching towards Thoubal.
Gopalmacha and five others were rushed to Jivan Hospital, Kakching but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The other injured were referred to various hospitals in Imphal after receiving first aid.
Surjamani, who was undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals, passed away around 7.30pm Sunday.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased is being kept at JNIMS morgue and Kakching Police has registered a case in this regard.
