Symposium on 'Aspects of Manipuri literature' held

A one-day symposium on 'Aspects of Manipuri Literature' organised by Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura under the aegis of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, was held at the conference hall of Tripura Students' Health Home, near Agartala Press Club, Tripura on Sunday.
Scholar Longjam Joychan-dra, Sahitya Akademi, Manipuri Language Advisory Board convener professor Rajen Toijamba, Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum president N Bira, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura president L Birmangal, Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata Regional Office assistant editor Kshetrabasi Naik and writer S Khelamohan attended the event as members on the dais.
Sahitya Akademi member Khoisnam Birola presented the welcome address and Sorokkhaibam Gambhini, who has been selected for Sahitya Akademi award, was honoured by presenting shawl and citation.
The first session was chaired by writer Mayengbam Abhiram while Dr Thokchom Ibohanbi, Dr Anuradha Nongmaithem and Khoisnam Mangol presented papers.
The second session was chaired by Longjam Joychanda while AC Netrajit, Sorokhaibam Gambhini and Kshetrimayum Premchandra presented papers.
During the event, the Forum announced winners of the Khaidem Ningol Sagolsem Ongbi Achoubi Ningshing Mana, which is presented to highest mark scorers in class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by Tripura Board.
The awards carry Rs 5000 each.
DM University professor Dr Rajkumari Musuksana donated Rs 50,000 to the Forum for sponsoring the award.
