Imphal, November 07 2023:
Representatives of Imagi Meira led by its convenor Th Sujata Devi called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum with a charter of demands.
The charter of demands included free flow traffic in national highway by providing adequate security arrangement, shifting of buffer zones, handing over of mortal remains of two students -Hijam Linthoingambi and Hemanjit - and to trace the missing boys from Lamsang at the earliest.
The team informed the Governor that people are suffering due to price rise caused by frequent economic blockades on the national highways, limited supply of essential commodities, and the unavailability of rice provided under NFSA for the last two months.
Governor Uikey while listening to their grievances and demands, said that both the centre and the state government are making constant efforts to resolve the issue while security personnel in the state have put in place strict security measures.
She further promised the team to request the chief minister, chief secretary, and DGP to assess the situation and take appropriate security steps to ensure the free flow of necessary supplies along the national highways and to prevent untoward incidents.
The Governor then appealed to the visiting team not to resort to violence by taking law into their hands and to cooperate in all efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
