Imphal, November 07 2023:
Representatives of Imagi Meira led by its convenor Th Sujata Devi called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum today, said PRO Raj Bhavan in a statement.
In the memorandum, the Imagi Meira demanded free flow traffic on the National Highway by deploying adequate security forces and shift buffer zones from settlement areas.
The memorandum sought the Government to trace and hand over the mortal remains of two students, Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit and also trace the missing boys from Lamsang at the earliest.
The team told the Governor that the people have been affected by the economic blockade on the National Highway and consequential inflation of prices of essential commodities.
The Governor was also apprised of the non release of NFSA rice for two months.
PRO Raj Bhavan said Governor Anusuiya Uikey heard their grievances and informed them that continuous efforts were being put in by the Centre and the State Government to resolve the crisis.
Stringent security measures have been taken up by security forces in the State, she said and assured them that she will asked the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and DGP to take stock of the prevailing situation and take up adequate security measures to enable free flow of essential supplies on the National Highways and to stop untoward incidents.
She appealed to the visiting team to co-operate and support every step taken up to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
