Many appeal for safe release of missing students

People of Awang Sekmai, Kangla-tongbi and students of Don Bosco School, Langjing have appealed to all concerned to release Ningthoujam Anthony and Maibam Avinash on humanitarian ground.
A protest demonstration was staged today at Awang Sekmai under the aegis of the Coordinating Committee Sekmai-Kanglatongbi Kanba Lup, Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup and Sekmai SC Development Committee demanding safe release of the two boys who have been missing since November 5 .
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Awang Sekmai Kanba Nupi Lup chairperson Laimayum Kullabati urged the State Government to trace the whereabouts of the two boys and hand them over to their respective families.

She also appealed to all to inform the people of Awang Sekmai or Kanglatongbi or the organisations based in the two villages if they must travel on NH-2 to Awang Sekmai and Kanglatongbi.
Anthony and Avinash of Akham village went to Awang Sekmai on a Jawa motorcycle on Sunday morning to attend an event.
Since then, the two boys have been missing.
Although it has been confirmed that the two boys crossed Kanglatongbi bridge and headed north, their whereabouts could not be established so far.
Nonetheless, their mobile phones were recovered from an oil pump at Senapati district headquarters.
On the other hand, students and teachers of Don Bosco School, Langjing staged a sit-in protest this morning demanding safe release of the two students who are suspected to have been kidnapped and detained by Kuki militants.
Speaking to media persons, one of the students said that their schoolmate Avinash Maibam, along with one of his companions, Ningthoujam Anthony of Lamsang Akham went missing on November 5 afternoon and it is feared that they have been kidnapped by Kuki militants.
Mobile phones belonging to the two students were found on the next day at Senapati district headquarters.
She appealed to all those who are behind the kidnapping of Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony to release them safely at the earliest.
She also appealed to the authority concerned to protect students and bring a solution to the six months old unrest at the earliest.
If the unrest continues, many more unwanted incidents might occur in the coming days, said the worried student.
Another student said that it has been quite a long time since academic atmosphere is jeopardised in the State due to the restive situation prevailing in the State for the past six months.
He also appealed to all concerned who detained or kidnapped Avinash and Anthony to release them at the earliest, and expressed " that peace and tranquillity would return to the State soon.
