Two arrested in missing boys' case, 4 abducted

Joint security teams arrested two suspects in connection with the case of two missing boys.
According to a press statement of police control room, the two individuals are suspected cadres of KRA (U), and believed to be involved in the abduction of the two boys.
The arrested persons have been identified as Lhunkhosei Chongloi (30), son of Hentinthang Chongloi of C Aisan village under Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district, and Satgohgin Hangsinh (28), son of Ngamjalun Hangsing of Khomunnom village under Litan police station in Ukhrul district.
They have been arrested in connection with the suspected abduction of Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony Of Akham Awang Leikai, Imphal West.
The accused persons were brought before a Magistrate and subsequently remanded to police custody till November 17 for further investigation even as search operations are underway to apprehend other potential culprits.
On the other hand, a Bolero carrying five individuals from the Kuki community was confronted by an enraged mob at Kangchup Chingkhong.
The mob forcibly took four of them, while one managed to escape.
Later, security forces rescued one person from among the four and was airlifted to Dimapur for medical treatment.
The whereabouts of the remaining four individuals, including the one who escaped, are still unknown.
Security forces are actively working to locate and rescue them, the statement said.
During the confrontation between the mob and security forces, armed miscreants engaged in an exchange of fire in the areas of K Songlung hill range, Koutruk, and Tairenpokpi.
Two police personnel and seven civilians sustained injuries and were evacuated to hospitals.
Security forces managed to bring the situation under control and conducted search operations in the area, destroying one bunker, it added.
The statement also informed that 133 checkpoints were established in various districts of the state, both in the hill and the valley regions.
Police detained 2067 individuals in connection with violations of prohibition orders in different districts of the state.
