Imphal, November 16 2023:
Claiming responsibility for the firing at the residential gate of one Kongkham Bung Singh of Nagamapal Soram Leirak on November 13 evening, the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) said that the attack was carried out as a last warning to Bung for his involvement in betel leaf smuggling through Churachandpur by regularly paying huge amount of money to Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists.
According to a KCP statement issued by its deputy secretary of information & public relations M Punshiba Meitei, Bung along with Kongkham Sanajaoba Singh nf Utlou and Md Khalid of Kwakta and their accomplices are still indulging in smuggling of betel leaves through Churachandpur by regularly paying huge amount of money to Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists despite repeated Warnings.
The money that the gang paid regularly to Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists are being used to purchase arms and ammunition and train their recruits to attack the Meetei civilians, who have been at the receiving end of repeated violent assaults since May 3, 2023.Instead of paying heed to repeated warnings to cease betel leaf smuggling, the gang tried to justify their act by maintaining that many other individuals are also doing the same business.
Moreover, the gang even offered to contribute money regularly to the outfit (KCP) by claiming that other groups are being paid on regular basis.
However, the outfit (KCP) turned the offer down as it will never accept anything that can work to the advantage of Ku-ki-Zo narco-terrorist elements in any manner, the statement said and warned that the three betel leaf smugglers will be given befitting punishment if they do not stop the business.
