Indus Towers Scholarship Award Ceremony held

An Induction Programme cum Indus Towers Scholarship Award Ceremony 2023 for selected students with disabilities from Manipur was held today at the Conference Hall of Spastic Society of Manipur, Tapokpi Bazar, Langthabal Kunja.
It was attended by Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur; Dr Thangjam Dhabali Singh, CMD, Babina Groups; Vijay Dhekial, CHRO, NESA, Indus Towers Ltd; and Laishram Tokendra Ricky, secretary Spastic Society of Manipur as presidium members.
The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Laishram Tokendra Ricky fol lowed by a keynote address by Seema J, programme manager Indus Towers Scholarship Programme-NE.
Speaking on the occasion, Seem J stated that 6 laptops will be distributed to continuing scholars with disabilities and 41 new scholars with disabilities will be inducted with certificates today.
She shared that Spastic Society of Manipur is a composite centre for empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and was conferred the National Award for Best Institution in 2008 for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
She continued ShishuSarothi Centre for Rehabilitation & Training for Multiple Disabilities, which is based in Guwahati is a right-based, not-for-profit organisation offering a range of services including education, livelihood and advocacy for children with physical & developmental disabilities.
"The scholarship programme is a CSR initiative of Indus Towers implemented across North- East in association with ShishuSarothi and other State partners.
The scholarship aims to promote inclusion of students with disabilities in the mainstream by providing financial support in pursuing their higher education so that they can lead an independent life ahead.
41 students with disabilities from Manipur are selected this year", she added.
Vijay Dhekial mentioned that Indus Towers Ltd, one of the largest telecom tower companies in the world is enabling communication for millions of people daily and providing affordable, high quality and reHable services for the growing network connectivity needs of India.
As part of the event, Shruti Jain, daughter of Devendra Jain and Sharmila Jain was also felicitated in recognition of her challenges in communication and achievements.
Notably, Shruti Jain has won Gold Medals in swimming and Paralympics in 2012 representing Manipur.
