Search ops continue, one held with weapons

Imphal, November 16 2023:
Combined teams of state and central forces continued to conduct search operations in various places on Thursday and recovered a large cache of weapons.
According to a police report, on receipt of reliable input, a joint team of 5/9 GR, Patsoi police station, Imphal West district commando and Sangaithel police outpost carried out search operation in and around Moidangpok Maning Leinganglok from 3 pm to 4.30 pm on Thursday.
During the operation, the team recovered one AK56 with magazine, one pistol with magazine, two No 36 handgrenades with detonator, 50 rounds of 7.62mm, four Country Made GI Pipes (Pumpi Guns) with explo -sive, 100 cartridges of 12 bore shotgun and 12 bullets marked as EC4 .
On the other hand, a joint team of security forces arrested a man with a firearm during checking-frisking operation carried out in front of LMS Law College, Chingmeirong on Wednesday night.
The arrested man has been identified as Mutum Rajesh Singh (25) s/o M Shyam Singh of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, presently residing at Kyamgei Santipur.
As per a police report, a combined team of Imphal West district commando, 4AR and E-Coy 216 CRPF halted an unregistered black colour Mahindra THAR Jeep in front of LMS Law College, Chingmeirong around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.
During thorough search of the vehicle in the presence of an executive magistrate, the team found one .32 pistol (Made in Italy) with five five rounds, one bullet proof vest, one magazine pouch, and one bullet proof helmet.
The team detained Mutum Rajesh, who was driving the vehicle and handed him along with the seized items and the vehicle to the Imphal PS for further legal action.
