AMPA observes foundation day

The All Manipur Press Association (AMPA) celebrated its 52nd foundation day at Manipur Press Club, today.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) president Raghabendra N Dutta Baruah said that the foundation day was held in a low-key manner due to the crisis in Manipur.
Saying that they planned to hold a technical session during the observance but the same was dropped, he prayed for normalcy to return in Manipur.
Saying that the success of the printing industry in North East India is largely dependent on Government business, Raghabendra expressed hope that the Manipur Government will support the people in the printing profession to better the economy of the State and the country as a whole.
AMPA president Senjam Surjit, on the other hand, said that they observed their foundation day by only offering floral tributes to those who got killed while fighting to protect the unity and integrity of Manipur.
AMPA general secretary YK Dhiren, delivering the keynote address, said that there are about 100 printing presses in Manipur and they too have been extending help to the people at relief camps.
Saying that the printing industry in Manipur is next only to Assam, Dhiren said that the Government departments can now print their documents and booklets in the State too and it will help in improving the economy of Manipur too.
Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM) Secretary Dr S Mangijao Singh and All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president Bijoy Kakchingtabam also attended the programme among others.
