Local handloom enterprise seeks Govt's help

Senapati, September 15 2023: A local handloom enterprise from Senapati has sought the help of the authority concerned in promoting the enterprise.

Row Kasu Handloom & Enterprise, located at River Colony, Makhrelui, Senapati was established in 2001 and registered under the District Cooperative Society, Government of Manipur in 2015 .

According to proprietor H Comfort Chao, the enterprise has been conducting 3-month training programme in handloom and power loom for different sections of the society in Senapati since its establishment.

The enterprise charges admission fee of Rs 2,500 and gives a monthly stipend of Rs 300 to each trainee with an aim to assist poor families of the region.

So far, more than 100 trainees have successfully completed training from the institution and have started their own projects, the proprietor further said.

The handloom centre has been producing school uniforms, traditional shawls and other dresses.

It sells traditional shawls at about Rs 6,000 per piece and other plain suit up to Rs 1,500.Saying that the handloom training centre has not received any government aid since its establishment, Comfort Chao expressed keenness to expand his enterprise to meet the high demand for their handloom products.

Chao then appealed to the authority concerned to help him realise his dream.
